Fresh Start Breakfast | Helping Women Out of Poverty
Courtney Sweasy—October 5, 2016
Residents living below the poverty line constitute nearly a quarter of Richmond’s residents. Many of those living in the direst of circumstances are women and children, struggling to stay afloat. Breit Cantor Grana Buckner isa Silver Sponsor for the upcoming Legal Aid Fresh Start Breakfast – Helping Women Out of Poverty on October 6, 2016. The majority of Legal Aid clients are women who not only fight to survive in difficult circumstances but often face legal barriers through no fault of their own. Legal Aid gives them a chance and access to justice that might otherwise remain out of reach.
This is the second annual Legal Aid Fresh Start Breakfast, which seeks to bring women in Richmond together to raise awareness and affect change within their communities through understanding and support. Legal Aid does not only help those in direct need but indirectly by strengthening the overall community. When Legal Aid assists a family with public benefits, that family is able to put food on the table, increasing money spent that boosts the local economy. When Legal Aid helps prevent eviction or foreclosure, it saves a family from homelessness, but it also saves the community from the social costs of housing another insecure family. Helping the vulnerable in turn helps the community.
Breit Cantor Grana Buckner pursues justice for our clients whose civil rights have been violated, whether it is a case of fair housing or discrimination. We are proud to be a Silver Sponsor of this event and the benefit its success will have on women in the Richmond area.
The Fresh Start Breakfast – Helping Women Out of Poverty, hosted by Legal Aid, takes place on October 6, 2016, from 8-9a.m. See address below for location and contact information for further inquiries.
